My Windows Server is in VMWare. And you need to install Active Directory before you can allow client to join domain to the server.
1. Logon Server
2. Identify IP of Server
Right-Click on Network > Select Properties
After Windows pop-up Click on Manage Network Connections
after Windows pop-up Right Click on Local Area Connection > select Properties
Click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
Click Properties
IP of Server 192.168.11.2
Now you can close all Windows Pop-up.
3. Create one user account(username: smey and password: it@2015) for join domain in Windows server
Click Start > Administrative Tools > Select Active Directory Users and Computers
Right Click on Users > select New > Select User
Type the username "smey" (domain name of server "angkor.com") > click Next
insert password(it@2015) and Click Next
Click Finish
4. Set DNS(IP of Server: 192.168.11.2) on client computer
Right-Click on Network > select Properties
Click Change Adapter Settings
Right-Click on VMware Network Adapter VMnet8 > select Properties
select Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4) > click Properties
Set Preferred DNS server: 192.168.11.2 (IP address must be in same rank as DNS. Example 192.168.11.3)
Click Ok > Click Close
5. Start join domain
Right-Click on Computer > select Properties
Click Change Settings
Click Change
Select Domain and type domain name "angkor.com"
Click OK
Type username "smey" and password "it@2015" > Click OK
When join domain successfully, it show message as figure below > Click OK:
Click OK
If you have unsaved all your open files, you may first save and close them because when you click Restart Now your computer will restart that can make you lose unsaved data. Click Restart Now tom complete.
You all done. Now you computer in on the domain "angkor.com".
